MeTV
Overview: The main staple of my portfolio, MeTV has long since evolved from the small, unorganised collection of themes it began as over 4 years ago. Now on it's fifth incarnation, MeTV serves mainly as somewhere for me to test out new scripts and web design tricks as I learn them. Also on this site you will find a collection of graphics & desktop wallpapers, prose, a growing online community and much much more. All while still offering one of the most comprehensive collections of themes on the internet today.
Languages & Tools Used: These days the code used to drive MeTV is Visual Basic Script Version 5.6 based on the HTML that was behind the previous version and is entirely hand coded in Notepad. The graphics were created in Adobe Photoshop and ocassionally Macromedia Fireworks has been used for its Export Wizard and animation tools. You will also find Javascript and Cascading Style Sheets used extensively through the site. The whole site runs off a Microsoft Access database with Structured Query Language used to retrieve the values.
Other Info: The current design of MeTV is based on the template I created for the 999 promotion we ran in House of Design some time ago.

Avonmore
Overview: After our work on the Natinal Milk Agency's website we were invited to tender for Avonmore's website. Avonmore are part of the Glanbia Food Group, one of the largest dairy producers in Europe. Being such a small company, we didn't think we'd have a hope in hell of being awarded the contract, so we aimed to treat it as a means to get our "foot in the door", so to speak. Much to our surprise we made it to the final three and were asked to expand on our idea of an interactive village before the final decision was made. After whipping up a very rough demo in Flash, we were awarded the contract which was the cause for concern on my part as we were now committed to a huge Flash project and I had little to no knowledge of this software. However, we somehow managed to pull it off after a lot of back and forth on the look and feel of the village and the Avonmore website was launched on May 20th amid a massive marketing blitz.
Languages & Tools Used: For a project of this size, we used pretty much every tool at our disposal; Adobe Illustrator 9 was used to create the vector graphics which were then imported into Flash and the bulk of the site was programmed in ActionScript. For the HTML elements of the site an Access database was created and Visual Basic Script and Structured Query Language were used to dynamically create the pages which use my usual healthy mix of Hypertext Mark-up Language, Javascript and Cascading Style Sheets, all hand coded in Notepad. The graphics for the HTML sections were all created and exported in Adobe Phootshope 5.5. The Quicktime movies were outsourced to The Yard and the Windows Media Files were created using Windows Media Encoder. The audio files were transferred from audio cassette to CD by Moynihan Russell and then compressed by myself using Streambox Ripper.
Other Info: Look for a more in depth case study on this site coming soon.
